Adoption Process

It’s easy, convenient and free

Here’s what happens during the adoption process:

  • We have a brief telephone conversation to discuss the particulars of your location and to determine next steps.
  • Once a commitment to adopt outdoor cats has been made
    • We contact a local shelter to place a rescue-hold on the cats so that they will not be killed.
    • In some cases, if needed, we make a visit to your property prior to delivering the cats to discuss your location and the adaptation environment.
    • Typically it takes one-to- two weeks for the cats to be spayed or neutered, vaccinated and tested in preparation for being taken to their new home.
  • After the cats have recovered from their surgery, an appointment is made to deliver the cats.
  • Upon delivery, Tenth Life Foundation representatives handle all of the details:
    • Explain the adaptation process
    • Prepare and place the cats in the adaptation enclosure
    • Explain what to expect during adaptation and after the cats are released
    • Review Cat Data Sheets for each cat
    • Complete Adoption Agreement
    • Answer any questions you may have.
  • Maintain the cats in their adaptation enclosure for 2 – 4 weeks (depending on the type of enclosure)
  • After the cats are released, provide daily food and water and shelter.

The adopter’s responsibilities are to help adapt the cats to their new home and, after the cats are released, to provide daily food, water and shelter throughout the cats’ lives.

There is no adoption fee.  However, Tenth Life Foundation is entirely supported by donations, so any donations are very welcome and tax deductible.
